Civil Litigation Conference Planning Committee – Call for Committee Members
April 13, 2022
The planning committee of the CCLA’s Civil Litigation Conference (also known as “the Trembello Conference”) is looking for three new members. The committee is a standing committee of the CCLA’s Board of Trustees, to which it reports through its co-chairs. Terms of reference for the committee can be found here.
The committee typically meets monthly from January until July to discuss case law and legal and professional developments, and to select conference topics. Its members then liaise with speakers and organize panel discussions and presentations in the months leading up to the November conference, which takes place over two days at the Fairmont Mont Tremblant. We would like the committee to include lawyers who represent the diversity of Ottawa’s civil litigation bar and as such, we are seeking persons:
· with commercial, estates and general civil litigation experience;
· creativity, a keen interest in the law, a willingness to work hard and a sense of humour; and
· bilingualism is also valued.
Diversity at the CCLA is about inclusion, embracing differences, and working together to make our membership, organization and our programming better. We embrace diversity in our membership and at the conference. Continued quality programming starts with a committee that is representative of all CCLA members.
If you think you might be interested in joining the committee, please send an email to Jennifer Thompson at jthompson@ccla-abcc.ca. We do not need an elaborate application but please tell us what you would bring to the committee and do not forget to tell us about your practice and your year of call.
The deadline for applications is Friday, April 29, 2022. Please note: All applicants must be members in good standing with the CCLA.
Thank you,
Jeff Saikaley & Susanne Sviergula Co-Chairs, Civil Litigation Conference Planning Committee
