CCLA Announces New Membership Category – International Students

May 26, 2020
Following our 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, May 21, 2020, the CCLA is pleased to announce the addition of a new membership category – international students!

Effective immediately, international students who (i) have applied to the National Committee on Accreditation, (ii) have been approved for admission to the Ontario bar subject to certain conditions, and (iii) are in the process of completing those conditions; are eligible for CCLA membership.

The new category is reflective of the growing number of internationally trained lawyers now living and wishing to practice in Ontario.

The fees for the new category are the same as the other two student categories - $28.25 (HST included).

Other changes to our membership categories coming out of the AGM include clarifying the qualifying description of the law student membership category. Going forward, CCLA membership shall be available to “full-time law students enrolled and in good standing at an accredited Ontario law school leading to the earning of an L.L.B., J.D., or similarly qualifying degree, for admission to the bar of Ontario.”

The CCLA looks forward to welcoming new student members to the Association in 2020 and beyond! To sign up, please visit the Membership section of this website.
