Demographic Self-Identification Survey

June 20, 2019
In the interests of growing the CCLA's membership and ensuring we are optimizing how well we, as an association, engage with all lawyers and paralegals in our region, the CCLA Diversity Committee is proposing to undertake an anonymous, voluntary demographic self-identification survey of our membership. Participation in the survey will be entirely voluntary; no one will be compelled to participate. Survey results will be retained securely and confidentially. The survey will be comprised exclusively of the same questions that the Law Society of Ontario asks members at the time of their annual renewals. By comparing the CCLA survey results with the results of the LSO's self-ID survey from our region, we will be able to glean insights into whether there are specific demographics with whom CCLA is not connecting. We will see if we have low levels of membership amongst certain age, religious, sexual orientation, or racial categories, and will be able to craft outreach initiatives to help bolster any areas of weakness in our membership.

To take the demographic self-identification survey, please follow this link: The survey will remain open until Wednesday, July 17th. Please note: the survey is intended for CCLA members only.

If there are any questions or concerns, please direct all inquiries to CCLA Diversity Committee Co-Chair Rebecca Bromwich at
