Updated Information on CCLA Lounge Access
May 1, 2019
The CCLA is very excited to announce that access to the lounge will be available Tuesday, May 7!
At this time, we would like to update you on the new procedure for entering the lounge.
There are no longer punch-code locks on the doors to the lounge. The doors are now equipped with an electronic swipe-card lock at both the entrance to the lounge from the lobby, and from within the library.
Also, please take this time to review the CCLA Library, Lounge, and Multi-Purpose Rooms Use Policy. This can be found at all times on our website.
CCLA & DCAO Members
If you already have an access card for the building that allows you to by-pass security on account of being a CCLA or DCAO member, that card will also work to open these doors. No further action will be necessary for you.
If you are a CCLA or DCAO member and you are eligible for a security card, please bring your CCLA membership card with you to visit the Security desk (the desk across from the Family Law Centre) between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM Monday to Friday. All new cards prepared by security will have the Lounge doors access.
Lawyers who are not CCLA or DCAO members but would like an access card for the lounge are asked to visit the CCLA front desk. We have lounge-only access cards available that will only unlock the lounge doors and cannot be used for any other security checkpoints in the building. There is a $25 refundable deposit for this card. The card does not have to be returned at the end of the day.
Do I need a card to get into the Lounge?
CCLA staff will be able to let you into the Lounge via the library entrance during our staffed hours. If, however, you need into the lounge before 8:30 AM or after 4:30 PM (for example, if your matter ends after that time and you need to access the lounge or robing rooms to retrieve your belongings), we encourage you to pick up a lounge-only access card from the front desk at the Library. The Library itself never locks, so you will be able to use the coatroom there at any time.
Who has access to the Lounge?
The CCLA Lounge is for the exclusive use of lawyers (and law school or articling students accompanying a lawyer), paralegals (and paralegal students accompanying a paralegal or lawyer), and the judiciary.
