CCLA Renovations Update – December 2018
December 14, 2018
We’d like to provide everyone with a quick update on the progress of the renovations to the CCLA space. The majority of the work is now complete. We are waiting on a few items before we have our occupancy permit and we declare the space done, so we’ll share the most pressing items with you here:
• Heating: As a result of an unforeseeable issue with the electric heaters, there is no heating in parts of the library and parts of the lounge. As it is wintertime, this is obviously a critical repair. Due to the mess and disruption caused by this work, we have opted to not take possession of the space until the heating has been fixed.
• Security: There will be new swipe-card access points at both entrances to the lounge. We are committed to ensuring that all pre-existing security swipe-cards held by CCLA and DCAO members are properly mapped to allow access through these doors, and that we have a reserve of lounge-only swipe-cards available to anyone who needs them. An email message containing all the relevant information on this new process will go out when the system is ready.
• Signage: Temporary signage will be in place until the permanent signage arrives. Our beautiful donor recognition art and signage will also be installed at that time.
This work is anticipated to be completed over the next few weeks, and we should be ready to move in to the new space in January. We thank you all for your understanding during this last push, and we can’t wait for you to see the new space in the new year!
