Call for Topics - 24th Annual Institute of Family Law

July 15, 2014

The 24th Annual Institute of Family Law Conference will be two full days: Friday, May 8 to Saturday, May 9, 2015.

We are seeking proposals for papers to be presented at the Annual Institute of Family Law. Authors of accepted proposals would be requested to prepare a paper, and to present at the conference, in May 2015, at Montebello, Quebec (approximately a 45 minute drive from Ottawa, Ontario).

We also invite suggestions for presentation topics and/or speakers from persons who do not wish to make a proposal themselves.

The Family Law Institute is a conference presented by the County of Carleton Law Association (CCLA). The target audience of the conference includes members of the Ontario judiciary, family law practitioners in the Ottawa and Eastern Ontario regions, and service providers involved in family dispute resolution.

The Family Law Institute strives to deliver the leading annual conference for family law practitioners in Eastern Ontario. It is our goal for the conference to include leading edge material within the family law arena, including content that delivers up to date information in key areas such as emerging legal issues, practice issues, professionalism, dispute resolution, developments in services related to family law dispute resolution, leading case law, and psychological or mental health areas related to family law issues.

The conference does not pay for papers or speakers. We do have a policy of making a charitable donation in lieu of honorariums. The majority of speakers are requested to cover their own costs of attending the conference. Free registration to the full conference is provided to all speakers.

Please email your proposal, together with a brief outline of your paper, to Jennifer Thompson, jthompson@ccla-abcc.ca, by Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Please indicate in your subject line that your proposal is for "The 24th Annual Institute of Family Law." All proposals will be discussed by the conference planning committee before selections are made. It is anticipated that those selected would be advised as early as possible, and no later than December 1, 2014.

Please also circulate this request for proposals to other individuals or organization who may have an interest in submitting a proposal.
