      17th Law Day Run/Walk a Tremendous Success!

On behalf of Jon Richardson, I want to sincerely thank Jon Westdal and his team for the great job they did in putting on this year's event.  Those of you who braved the Arctic blasts on April 27th will have a tale to tell your kids and grandchildren.  450 hardy souls were blown down the Queen Elizabeth Driveway and then fought a northern headwind to struggle back to the finish line.

As a result of the generosity of many firms, and the participants, $22,000 was raised.  This year's recipient will be the Ottawa Lawyers Feed the Hungry program, which has just celebrated its 2nd anniversary.

Many thanks to the sponsoring firms: Gowlings, Cavanagh Williams Conway Baxter, Sevigny Westdal, Doucet McBride, Soloways, Nelligans, BLG, Emond Harnden, Norton Rose, Ridout & Maybee, Heenan Blaikie, SGM Law, ODRG, Williams McEnery, Ravenlaw, Jewitt McLUckie, Hicks Morley, Spiteri & Ursulak, BrazeauSeller, Auger Hollingsworth, Foord Davies and Tierney Stauffer.

And kudos to the volunteers who donned the yellow aprons and manned the barricades on the hypothermic Driveway.  True Canadians!

      Ian Stauffer

      Caring and Sharing Exchange (C&SE)

      The Organization

The Caring and Sharing Exchange (C&SE) is an Ottawa-based charity which provides assistance to local families and individuals in need. Founded in 1915, it traditionally operated as The Christmas Exchange but rebranded in 2011 to better reflect the expanded services offered year round.

The C&SE mission is to provide assistance during both the Christmas and back-to-school seasons through the Christmas Exchange program and the Sharing in Student Success program.

The backbone of C&SE is the Co-ordination Service which verifies any duplicate applications amongst 350 local organizations in order to ensure equitable distribution of donor dollars in the community.

      Join the Board of Directors

The C&SE Board of Directors is a positive and committed group of individuals who actively participate in building sustainable and dignified support for those in need in our community. It is currently looking to recruit several new Board Directors who possess enthusiasm for giving back to the local community.

Ideally candidates to serve on the Board will bring a mix of leadership and networking skills as well as have knowledge and experience with not-for-profit charities. As Directors, you will help shape the strategic direction, policies and overall governance for the C&SE. In particular, the Board is looking to attract new Directors who can bring legal, financial, marketing, governance and/or fundraising skills to the organization.
