Seeking Topic Suggestions for 2013 Civil Litigation Updated Conference

Do you have topic and speaker suggestions? The Civil Litigation Updated Planning Committee is currently seeking input from the profession in Ottawa and the East Region regarding possible topics and speakers for our upcoming conference, which will be held on November 22-23, 2013. In its many conferences, the CCLA attempts to include "bread & butter" topics in addition to specific issues and new legislative changes. When assigning speakers the CCLA attempts to ensure, as much as possible, that there is representation by gender, size of firm, Ottawa and regional speakers, new and senior lawyers, and inclusion of Judges and Masters from the region.

Please email your topic or speaker suggestions to Marlee McElligott by Monday, June 3rd, 2013. Please indicate in your subject line that your topic or speaker suggestion is for "2013 Civil Litigation Updated Conference". All suggestions will be discussed by the conference planning committee.

    Welcome New Committee Members!

The Civil Litigation Updated Planning Committee is pleased to welcome four new committee members:

-Laurie Tucker (Called 2001) – Doucet McBride LLP
-Patrick Thompson (Called 2005) – McMillan LLP
-Jessica Fullerton (Called 2008) – Nelligan O’Brien Payne LLP

Call for Committee Members: Annual Institute of Family Law Planning Committee

The CCLA’s “Annual Institute of Family Law” planning committee is seeking new committee members.

The committee is a standing committee of the CCLA, accountable to the CCLA’s Board of Trustees, to which it reports through its co-chairs, Adriana Doyle and Pam MacEachern. The committee typically meets monthly from September until January or February. Its members then liaise with speakers and organize panel discussions and demonstrations in the months leading up to the April conference. Starting in April 2014, the conference will expand to take place over two days at Fairmont Le Château Montebello.

We would like the committee to include lawyers who represent a cross-section of Ottawa’s Family Bar, including at least one lawyer who has been practicing for 10 years or less.

If you think you might be interested in joining the committee, please send an email and any other information you might feel appropriate to Sharron Timmins at the CCLA. Please tell Sharron what you would bring to the committee and be sure to mention your year of call and to describe the nature of your practice.

The deadline for applications is Friday, May 31, 2013 at 5:00 PM.

Please note: All applicants must be members in good standing of the CCLA.

    Thank you!

    Adriana Doyle & Pam MacEachern
