The transformation of CCLA space can only happen with the support of the legal profession and community. Our Fundraising Committee, co-chaired by 2011 CCLA President Mary Jane Binks, Q.C. and 1982 CCLA President Abraham Feinstein, began work in the spring of 2012 and is extending an extensive fundraising campaign in the coming months.

The CCLA has had a home in the Ottawa Courthouse since the building officially opened in 1987. After almost 25 years the CCLA Renovation Committee was struck in early 2011, and plans to renovate the Barrister's Lounge, Library, and staff offices began to take shape.
By updating both the layout and design of the CCLA Library and Barristers Lounge, and better utilizing the available space, the overall goal of the renovation is to create an inviting and professional space for the legal community to use in the Courthouse.
The new Library layout will allow quick access to computers and valuable resources, while still providing quiet places to work and study. The completely re-designed Lounge will feature a coatroom and plenty of work space. For maximum flexibility and multi-use of space, a meeting room for private meetings will be constructued using glass partitions. These partitions can be opened up, allowing for the Lounge to be transformed into a learning centre.
